Stephen M. Watt
Stephen Watt has been Professor of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo since 2015, where he is past Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics. Prior to that, he was professor at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis and held research positions at INRIA and IBM Research. Watt’s research focusses on compilers, mathematical software and machine learning and he is co-author of several software packages and standards, including Maple, Axiom, Aldor, MathML and InkML. Watt has served as board member or chair of several private and public sector organizations, including the Descartes Systems Group (NASDAQ:DSGX, TSE:DSG), Maplesoft, Kognitiv, Big Road, Waste Diversion Ontario and the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation.
