CL Name Style:

1Purpose

f01vbc copies a complex triangular matrix, stored in a full format array, to a packed format array.

2Specification

 #include
 void f01vbc (Nag_OrderType order, Nag_UploType uplo, Integer n, const Complex a[], Integer pda, Complex ap[], NagError *fail)
The function may be called by the names: f01vbc, nag_matop_ztrttp or nag_ztrttp.

3Description

f01vbc packs a complex $n×n$ triangular matrix $A$, stored conventionally in a full format array, into an array of length $n\left(n+1\right)/2$. The matrix is packed by rows or columns depending on order. This function is intended for possible use in conjunction with functions from Chapters F06, F07, F08 and F16 where some functions use triangular matrices stored in the packed form. Packed storage format is described in Section 3.4.2 in the F07 Chapter Introduction.

5Arguments

1: $\mathbf{order}$Nag_OrderType Input
On entry: the order argument specifies the two-dimensional storage scheme being used, i.e., row-major ordering or column-major ordering. C language defined storage is specified by ${\mathbf{order}}=\mathrm{Nag_RowMajor}$. See Section 3.1.3 in the Introduction to the NAG Library CL Interface for a more detailed explanation of the use of this argument.
Constraint: ${\mathbf{order}}=\mathrm{Nag_RowMajor}$ or $\mathrm{Nag_ColMajor}$.
2: $\mathbf{uplo}$Nag_UploType Input
On entry: specifies whether $A$ is upper or lower triangular.
${\mathbf{uplo}}=\mathrm{Nag_Upper}$
$A$ is upper triangular.
${\mathbf{uplo}}=\mathrm{Nag_Lower}$
$A$ is lower triangular.
Constraint: ${\mathbf{uplo}}=\mathrm{Nag_Upper}$ or $\mathrm{Nag_Lower}$.
3: $\mathbf{n}$Integer Input
On entry: $n$, the order of the matrix $A$.
Constraint: ${\mathbf{n}}\ge 0$.
4: $\mathbf{a}\left[\mathit{dim}\right]$const Complex Input
Note: the dimension, dim, of the array a must be at least ${\mathbf{pda}}×{\mathbf{n}}$.
On entry: the triangular matrix $A$.
If ${\mathbf{order}}=\mathrm{Nag_ColMajor}$, ${A}_{ij}$ is stored in ${\mathbf{a}}\left[\left(j-1\right)×{\mathbf{pda}}+i-1\right]$.
If ${\mathbf{order}}=\mathrm{Nag_RowMajor}$, ${A}_{ij}$ is stored in ${\mathbf{a}}\left[\left(i-1\right)×{\mathbf{pda}}+j-1\right]$.
If ${\mathbf{uplo}}=\mathrm{Nag_Upper}$, the upper triangular part of $A$ must be stored and the elements of the array below the diagonal are not referenced.
If ${\mathbf{uplo}}=\mathrm{Nag_Lower}$, the lower triangular part of $A$ must be stored and the elements of the array above the diagonal are not referenced.
5: $\mathbf{pda}$Integer Input
On entry: the stride separating row or column elements (depending on the value of order) of the matrix $A$ in the array a.
Constraint: ${\mathbf{pda}}\ge \mathrm{max}\phantom{\rule{0.125em}{0ex}}\left(1,{\mathbf{n}}\right)$.
6: $\mathbf{ap}\left[\mathit{dim}\right]$Complex Output
Note: the dimension, dim, of the array ap must be at least ${\mathbf{n}}×\left({\mathbf{n}}+1\right)/2$.
On exit: the $n×n$ triangular matrix $A$, packed by rows or columns depending on order.
The storage of elements ${A}_{ij}$ depends on the order and uplo arguments as follows:
if ${\mathbf{order}}=\mathrm{Nag_ColMajor}$ and ${\mathbf{uplo}}=\mathrm{Nag_Upper}$,
${A}_{ij}$ is stored in ${\mathbf{ap}}\left[\left(j-1\right)×j/2+i-1\right]$, for $i\le j$;
if ${\mathbf{order}}=\mathrm{Nag_ColMajor}$ and ${\mathbf{uplo}}=\mathrm{Nag_Lower}$,
${A}_{ij}$ is stored in ${\mathbf{ap}}\left[\left(2n-j\right)×\left(j-1\right)/2+i-1\right]$, for $i\ge j$;
if ${\mathbf{order}}=\mathrm{Nag_RowMajor}$ and ${\mathbf{uplo}}=\mathrm{Nag_Upper}$,
${A}_{ij}$ is stored in ${\mathbf{ap}}\left[\left(2n-i\right)×\left(i-1\right)/2+j-1\right]$, for $i\le j$;
if ${\mathbf{order}}=\mathrm{Nag_RowMajor}$ and ${\mathbf{uplo}}=\mathrm{Nag_Lower}$,
${A}_{ij}$ is stored in ${\mathbf{ap}}\left[\left(i-1\right)×i/2+j-1\right]$, for $i\ge j$.
7: $\mathbf{fail}$NagError * Input/Output
The NAG error argument (see Section 7 in the Introduction to the NAG Library CL Interface).

NE_ALLOC_FAIL
Dynamic memory allocation failed.
See Section 3.1.2 in the Introduction to the NAG Library CL Interface for further information.
On entry, argument $⟨\mathit{\text{value}}⟩$ had an illegal value.
NE_INT
On entry, ${\mathbf{n}}=⟨\mathit{\text{value}}⟩$.
Constraint: ${\mathbf{n}}\ge 0$.
