NAG Press Releases 2012

  • NAG reveals customers across 5 continents benefit from NAG HPC Services & Consulting
At SC12 today (14 November), NAG reveals that the benefits of NAG High Performance Computing (HPC) expertise are now enjoyed by customers across 5 of the 6 inhabited continents – North America, Europe, South Africa, Australia and Asia.

  • NAG announces support for IBM BlueGene/Q supercomputers
12 November 2012. At SC12 in Salt Lake City, USA, the Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) announces the availability of their high quality numerical libraries for IBM’s Blue Gene/Q® third generation massively parallel supercomputer from IBM. This follows successful testing on the JUQUEEN supercomputer in Jülich, Germany. The JUQUEEN Blue Gene/Q® at Forschungszentrum Jülich is part of the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS). Sequoia, another Blue Gene/Q® at LLNL became the world’s most powerful known supercomputer in June 2012, taking the top spot in the Top500 list.

  • NAG delivers numerical software quality for Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors
At SC12 today (12 November), NAG announces numerical software and services to support customer adoption of Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors. Routines from the NAG Library, running on the Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor, offload intensive computations to the coprocessor when it is efficient to do so. This enables users to exploit the power of the Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor transparently.

  • The NAG Library for C and C++ programmers receives a major update including new optimizers
12 September 2012 - The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) announces new numerical functionality added to its numerical library for C and C++ programmers. The new functionality at Mark 23 of the NAG C Library brings the number of routines to 1452, all of which are expertly documented and includes two entirely new chapters plus extensions in the areas of statistics, nonlinear equations, wavelet transforms, ordinary differential equations, interpolation, surface fitting, optimization, matrix operations, linear algebra, large scale linear systems, and special functions.

  • NAG Fortran Compiler now supports OpenMP and more new language features
15 August 2012 - The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) announce the availability of a significant update to their highly standard-conformant, error-checking, Fortran Compiler. Release 5.3 of the NAG Fortran Compiler, together with the associated NAG Fortran Builder development environment for Microsoft Windows, can now be downloaded from the organization's website www.nag.com.

  • The NAG Toolbox for MATLAB® is updated with extensive new functionality and to improve ease of use
26 July 2012 - The Numerical Algorithms Group announces new numerical functionality added to its NAG Toolbox for MATLAB® at the latest release (Mark 23). The new functionality brings the number of functions within the NAG Toolbox to 1535 – making it the world’s largest toolbox for MATLAB. In addition to the 149 new numerical functions, a major enhancement, based on user feedback, focuses on improving ease of use.

  • Financial Risk Management through High Performance Computing - New Partnership for NAG
July 2012 - The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) is delighted to announce its partnership with the HPCFinance network. Numerical algorithms in the NAG Library are used by practitioners in the finance industry around the world to reliably perform their complex computations whether that be managing risk or optimizing hedge fund performance. In conjunction with developing numerical algorithm libraries, NAG provides world-class high performance computing (HPC) services via a dedicated team of in-house HPC experts. The nature of NAG's software development coupled with their HPC expertise aligned perfectly with the stated goals of the new HPCFinance network making them natural partners. NAG will be providing HPC services training and software to the HPCFinance researchers enabling their computational finance research.

  • NAG announces new numerical routines specially tuned for OpenMP at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC12) in Hamburg
June 2012 - The NAG Library for SMP & Multicore, a de facto standard for numerical code, has been extended with an additional group of algorithms, specifically engineered for the current generation of computer systems. With new functions in important areas that include Optimization, Statistics, Matrix operations, PDE solvers and ODE solvers, the update to the NAG Library for SMP & Multicore will benefit many new and existing software developers who run code a multiple core systems.

  • NAG Attains the UK's Investors in People Gold Standard
March 2012 - The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) is awarded the UK's highest official Investors in People (IIP) standard after a stringent review process. NAG has always prided itself on its ethos of investing in its most precious asset, its employees, and so it made perfect sense to try to obtain the highest formal acknowledgement of this via IIP.

  • NAG is delighted to support the Manchester Girl Geeks!
February 2012 - The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) is delighted to announce its first collaboration of 2012 with the sponsorship of the Manchester Girl Geeks. The not-for-profit group, based in Manchester UK is part of the Girl Geek Dinner network, which organises networking events, talks and hands-on workshops for women and girls with an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

  • Fortran standards editor wins important IEC award
January 2012 - A Principal Technical Consultant at NAG has been selected to receive the prestigious 'IEC 1906 Award' for his services to international technical standards.
