HPC Software Developer
The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) is dedicated to applying its expertise in numerical engineering to delivering high-quality computational software and high performance computing services. NAG wishes to make the following appointment:
HPC Software Developer
NAG is looking to recruit a specialist to join its existing high-performance computing team. The team is responsible for NAG's SMP and Parallel (cluster) Libraries, and for carrying out a range of consultancy projects, in particular providing computational science and engineering (CSE) support for the UK Research Councils high-end computing facility, HECToR. The team assists HECToR users in developing, porting, tuning and scaling their codes, working across a wide-range of application areas. It also delivers an extensive range of training courses to HPC users at UK Universities. Other projects include delivering CSE services to industrial and public sector organisations worldwide, and joint development with AMD of their Core Math Library (ACML).
Applicants should possess a degree in a mathematical, scientific or engineering discipline and have experience of parallel programming using paradigms such as MPI or OpenMP in languages such as C, C++ or Fortran. Other useful technical skills could include:
- numerical analysis;
- familiarity with libraries such as NAG and LAPACK;
- experience with benchmarking and performance tuning;
- experience with programming GPU-based systems in CUDA or OpenCL;
- familiarity with software development tools such as make and svn;
- experience supporting users of HPC systems;
- good presentation skills.
The successful candidate will be working within a team environment, so the ability to work constructively and cooperatively with colleagues is essential. The posts will be based at NAG's offices in either Oxford or Manchester. We offer a competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience, with six weeks holiday per year and the opportunity to join the USS pension scheme and BUPA.
Applicants should state clearly that they are currently eligible to work in the United Kingdom without obtaining any additional permit or authorisation. All applications must come directly from the candidate: NAG does not deal with agencies.
