Whenever the NAG Parallel Library has been supplied in compiled form, that form is considered to be the standard library file. The use of all supplied software must be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Software Licence signed by NAG and each site. In particular, users must not have free access to the text of the library routines. Any request to use NAG software on a computer other than the one licensed must be referred to NAG (see Section 6).
This implementation is a compiled, tested, ready-to-use version of the NAG Parallel Library that is considered suitable for operation on the computer systems detailed below:

If a different implementation of MPI is installed, the supplied BLACS libraries may have to be rebuilt with different options set in the file Bmake.inc. The objects in these libraries should be placed in the main NAG Parallel Library archive (libnagmpi.a).

This implementation was produced at NAG Ltd., Oxford on the computing system detailed below:

The supplied archive libraries (libnagmpi_pgf77.a and libnagmpi_pgf90.a) include the Fortran MPI version of the Basic Linear Algebra Communication Subprograms (BLACS v1.1, with patch02 dated 18.8.98). For libnagmpi_pgf77.a, the libnagtools routines were compiled with optimization -O1, whereas the BLACS and the remainder of the library were compiled with optimization -fast. In order to use the library libnagmpi_pgf90.a with the pgf90 compiler, the I/O (x04) routines were compiled with pgf90 with optimization -fast.
This implementation has been tested using the Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms (BLAS) provided by NAG in the archive libnagmpiblas.a and also with the PGI supplied BLAS library.

To install all material, use the GNU tar utility, e.g.
tar xvf /cdrom/fd03.tar(assuming the CD-ROM has been mounted as /cdrom).
Depending on whether the user is using the pgf77 or pgf90 compiler, links to
the object libraries libnagmpi_pgf77.a or libnagmpi_pgf90.a and libnagfls.a
should be placed in a directory, such as /usr/lib, in the default search path
of the linker so that linkage is convenient.
The object library libnagmpiblas.a is a subset of the BLAS required by the NAG Parallel Library. It is required only if the PGI supplied BLAS library is not available, in which case a similar link to libnagmpiblas.a should be created.
The script nagmpiexample is intended to provide users with a simple means of access to the example material. It will require some minor edits to reflect the local installation and should be placed in a directory, such as /usr/local/bin, which is on users' execution search paths.
For the NAG Parallel Library you will be provided with an uncounted license key for use on a specific machine.
An uncounted license key consists of one FEATURE or INCREMENT line for each product licensed, for example:
FEATURE NAG_FD NAG 3.000 31-jul-2000 0 CBDA2041DC1BC45D2B68 \ "LUXA," 80896b27
This enables an unlimited number of instances of version 3 of the application NAG_FD until the date specified on the system with hostid 80896b27 only. Note that the line is continued by escaping the newline character with '\'.
You will have to inform NAG of the hostid of the system. To obtain the hostid, locate the FLEXlm utility program 'lmutil' in fdlux03da/license/bin/i86_r6, and run it with argument 'lmhostid'.
Once you have obtained the license key, store the text of it in a file, say /usr/local/lib/nag/license.dat
The location of this file must be made known to the NAG application by setting the environment variable LM_LICENSE_FILE to the full pathname of the file before the application is invoked.
For example, in the C-shell, type:
setenv LM_LICENSE_FILE /usr/local/lib/nag/license.dator in the Bourne shell, type:
LM_LICENSE_FILE=/usr/local/lib/nag/license.dat export LM_LICENSE_FILE
No other actions are required to install an uncounted license.
For example, give the command
nagmpiexample f04ebfpto run the F04EBFP example program.
