In addition, NAG recommends that before calling any library routine you should read the following reference material (see Section 5):
(a) Essential Introduction
(b) Chapter Introduction
(c) Function Document
Assuming that libnagc.a or libnagc.so has been installed in a directory in the search path of the linker, such as /usr/lib, and that the NAG include files have been moved to /usr/include, then you may link to the NAG C Library in the following manner:
gcc driver.c -lnagc -lpthread -lmwhere driver.c is your application program.
If ths NAG Library is not installed on the search path of the linker, you can specify its location using the -L flag; for example, if it is installed in the directory /cll6407dal:
gcc driver.c -L/cll6407dal -lnagc -lpthread -lm
Note that the NAG C Library is supplied in both static and shareable versions (libnagc.a and libnagc.so.7 respectively), and also that libnagc.so.7 should have a link to it called libnagc.so in the same directory. The shareable library will be used by default. It is possible that the shareable libraries have been placed in a directory in the search path of the linker, but not the search path of the run-time linker (e.g. /usr/local/lib). If this is so then the above compilation command will result in the program failing at run-time and should be replaced with, for example
gcc driver.c -Wl,-rpath,/usr/local/lib -lnagc -lpthread -lmThe use of the -Wl,-rpath option in the compilation command can be avoided if the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set as follows:
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/local/lib
If the include files are in a location other than /usr/include, such as /usr/local/include, then you may link to the NAG C Library in the following manner:
gcc -I/usr/local/include driver.c -lnagc -lpthread -lm
nagexample c06eacwill copy the example program and its data into the files c06eace.c and c06eace.d in the current directory and process them to produce the example program results.
The example programs supplied to a site in machine-readable form have been modified as necessary so that they are suitable for immediate execution. Note that the distributed example programs are those used in this implementation and may not correspond exactly with the programs published in the manual. The distributed example programs should be used in preference wherever possible.
The distributed example results are those obtained with the NAG static library.

A full online version of the NAG C Library Manual is supplied in the form of Portable Document Format (PDF) files, with an HTML index, in the NAGdoc directory. The introductory material is also provided as HTML files in the NAGdoc directory.
A main index file has been provided (NAGdoc/cl/html/mark7.html) which contains a fully linked contents document pointing to all the available PDF (and where available HTML) files. Use your HTML browser to navigate from here.
The NAG Response Centres are available for general enquiries from all users and also for technical queries from sites with an annually licensed product or support service.
The Response Centres are open during office hours, but contact is possible by fax, email and phone (answering machine) at all times.
When contacting a Response Centre it helps us deal with your enquiry quickly if you can quote your NAG site reference and NAG product code (in this case CLL6407DAL).
The NAG websites provide information about implementation availability, descriptions of products, downloadable software, product documentation and technical reports. The NAG websites can be accessed at the following URLs:
