Brian T. Smith

Brian T. Smith is currently Professor Emeritus, retired from the Computer Science Department at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a faculty member of the University for nearly 15 years, where he held positions as Chairman of the Computer Science Department, Assistant Dean of the School of Engineering, Director of the Albuquerque High Performance Computing Center, and Co-director of the High Performance Computing and Education Center at UNM.

Prior to becoming a Professor at UNM, he was a Computer Scientist in the Mathematics and Computer Division of Argonne National Laboratory for 18 years. While there, he co-authored the EISPACK collection of matrix eigensystem code and the user's guides for EISPACK. In addition, he became the SIGNUM representative on the Fortran standards committee in 1978 and was very active in the development of the Fortran 90 standard. As a result of his interest in Fortran, he has co-authored several reference books on Fortran 90 and Fortran 95.

Professor Smith is a member of the NAG Ltd Board of Directors, the NAG Inc Advisory Panel, and NAG Inc Board of Directors. He has been associated with NAG since its formation in 1976.
